Introductory Heidelberg Windmill Class
Wednesday, September 8, 7-9 pm and
Saturday, September 11, 11 am – 4 pm
Class fee: $130
We welcome you to join us for a two-day introductory Heidelberg Windmill class! This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the press, its history, parts and various functions.
You’ll also learn fundamental letterpress printing basics, maintenance and safety considerations. This is an extended version of our one-day Windmill class, with more in-depth press coverage.
We’ll include tips and tricks for make ready, plate and inking secrets. Participants will have multiple opportunities to set up and run a variety of papers (and envelopes!) on this fantastic letterpress. Lunch on Saturday and all materials for both days are included in the class fee. Class size is limited to 6 people.
Class Registration Terms:
To register, please email class@logosgraphics.net. All class fees include materials. Payment must be submitted prior to the start of class, either by Paypal or check. Checks may be made payable and mailed to: Logos Graphics, 499 Alabama Street #126, San Francisco, CA 94110.
Please note that there are cats and dogs at our shop, and we recommend taking allergy medication before arriving to your class.

Our famous paper sale is back! Come by for deals and steals, ranging from Crane’s Lettra scraps to various colored cover papers, envelopes and small scrap photopolymer plate material — all at a fraction of their retail cost.
Please let us know if you are planning on coming, and we’ll make sure you have our door access code.

Panel Discussion: Letterpress as a Business

San Francisco Center for the Book is hosting a free panel discussion next Thursday, May 27, from 6-8 pm. Moderated by John Sullivan and featuring four other Bay area letterpress printers, the panel will tackle the ins and outs of running a letterpress business in today’s ever-changing digital and economic world. Summer Autographic Intaglio Class

Intaglio Print
Based on the popular feedback of our intaglio salon, we’re happy to announce our first summer class!
Experience the thrill of making your own freehand intaglio prints in this two-day class! You’ll have the opportunity to make your own mark onto a copper plate coated with ImagOn, ink up, and print with our Sturges etching press onto dampened paper. If you’ve never tried intaglio, this is an excellent introduction to fine (and fun!) printmaking. All levels welcome.

We’ll screen print tote bags for sale at the fair. If you bring your own paper grocery shopping bags, you can screen print a few for yourself to take home too.
You’ll have fun at this fast and easy process, and meet other PCBA members in this Saturday afternoon salon.

As 2009 draws to a close, we’d like to wish a very happy new year to all of our friends and clients.
Thank you for helping to make this a special year for us, from celebrating the Vandercook’s 100th anniversary to screen printing rockin’ posters and delving further into intaglio (see example, left).

Chance-Based Screen Printing Class
Wednesday, November 4, 2009 7-9 pm and
Saturday, November 7, 2009 10 am – 3 pm
Cost: $100
This class will cover screen printing using chance-based forms. Non-objective printing can be fast, fun and creatively freeing! You’ll print using a wide range of screens that are pre-prepared using torn paper stencils, vinyl stencils, and multiple ink colors (including split fountains!).
We’re also revealing a new style of screen printing press at Logos Graphics, designed and built by our very own John Sullivan! Class limited to 8 people.
